As you can see, it doesn't take much of a holiday to motivate me to go paddling. Just think, if Julius Caesar had been kayaking instead of attending meetings at the Forum on that fateful day in 44 BC, he wouldn't have been assassinated. Well, at least not on that day. And now I'm changing the date from the Ides of March to the 7th day before the April Kalends because I did not make it to Arkansas when I thought I would, and rain, temperatures and wind look the best on this day. But I digress. Getting back to the event, the actual venue depends on residual water levels from rain on previous days. The actual date depends on the weather. The plan is for us to paddle the Caddo River - ideally from Norman to Glenwood - 15.5 miles Medium-water option will be from the Swing Bridge at Caddo Gap to Glenwood - about 10.5 miles. Whenever and wherever this outing gets underway, please carefully consider your tolerances and prepare for the following: COLD-WATER DUNKING: -Wear a Dry Suit -Wear a Wet Suit top, and/or -Bring a towel and change of clothes in a dry bag WEATHER: Dress for the weather of the day and bring something that will keep you cozy at the next level of coldness. BRING: -PFD -Kayak -Paddle -Water (to drink) -Lunch/Snack -A second towel and change of clothes in a second dry bag
