What is this?
Time to check out the fall foliage, if any, and get out and about in a canoe again. I am planning a very leisurely float on Champion Lake to take a lot of photos, if color and weather permit (and it looks good at this point). We will put in from the Champion Lake boat ramp, Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge. May go 3 miles, or, you know me, a lot more if the spirit moves me but certainly 10 or less. Bring your camera and binoculars, or plan to just float as I take aim. Phone call to the Refuge office assures me there is no hunting on the lake this day although the season starts next Saturday (November 13).

The usual caveats of wear your PFD, be a member of ACA (American Canoe Association) or face a $10 charge. Bring a lunch to eat on the water - no potty facilities except at the putin/takeout.

P.S. Please drive slowly through the neighborhood along CR417 approaching the park
