HOUSTON CANOE CLUB GENERAL MEETING
November 11th, 2015
Bayland Park Community Center
Recorder: Frank Ohrt

7:07

The commodore called the meeting to order. He called for the club to select a Technical Officer to deal with setting up and taking down the projector, screen, etc. at the club meetings. He then introduced the officers.

The Commodore gave the Safety minute, reminding the members that it was getting along towards winter, and that we should remember to take precautions against hypothermia. Bring dry clothes and a raincoat in a dry bag. Anyone can fall in the river, especially those of us over 30.

7:20
John Ohrt announced the slate of nominees for club officers for 2016, and moved that the members vote to accept them. Since most members were not nominated, they gladly voted to accept the entire slate.

7:25

The Purser offered a budget for 2016. Frank Ohrt proposed that the club become an American Whitewater affiliate club, for $75/year. The proposal was accepted, as was the budget.

Paul Woodcock, acting as Fleet Captain, called for trip reports and notice of future trips. Tom Douglas reported on a trip on Lake Charlotte, and Dave Kitson reported on a Champions Lake trip. Future trips announced included a clean-up of Kuhlman Gully, a tributary of Brays Bayou, on Nov. 14, a Cypress Creek paddle with Tom Douglas on Nov. 20, and a Dec. 5 trip on the Columbus Loop of the Colorado. Bruce Bodson announced Christmas Bird Counts that needed participants in boats, on Old River, Dec. 28, and Trinity River, Dec. 30.

Cindy Bartos gave an interesting presentation on birding from boats.
