7:05 The Commodore called the meeting to order. He reminded the members to keep comments and reports brief, so we could get out of there on time. He then introduced the same officers as last time. The Purser was absent.
7:10 The Commodore gave the Safety Minute. With two recent incidents of attacks on humans, he reminded the members to be aware of alligators in the local waters, especially where fishermen cleaned their catch. Frank Ohrt reported the death of a paddler in North Carolina, and noted the importance of regular check-ups for heart disease.
7:15 The Commodore asked for more members to offer to serve as officers in the coming year, then gave the purser's report. (We're still in the black, unless the Purser is checking out paddling opportunities in Lake Charles.)
7:20 The Bosun reported a new member, Hank Thomas, and three visitors, Mike Tulp, Roger Hathorne, and Toni Ugueto.

7:23 The Fleet Captain reported that the club picnic at Lake 288 was a great success. Trip reports were given on Week of Rivers in North Carolina, a trip on Armand Bayou, and on Lake Charlotte. An upcoming photo op on Buffalo Bayou was mentioned. Harmon talked about a work trip to San Marcos River Retreat, and noted that the Texas Water Safari was on for July 11. An upcoming trip on the Neches River was announced, as was a fireworks show in Seabrook.
7:50 John Rich denied having anything much to say about the next issue of the club newsletter. (Let's write up some trip reports, folks, so he doesn't have to continue to make them up.)
7:51 Vice-commodore Honey Leveen introduced Glen Kilborn, from Brazos Bend State Park, who spoke about the snakes of southeast Texas, and the venomous snakes in particular, so watch where you put your big feet.
