HOUSTON CANOE CLUB GENERAL MEETING
October 8th, 2014
Bayland Park Community Center
Recorder: Frank Ohrt

7:05 - The Commodore called the meeting to order, apologized for leaving the gavel and Commodore's hat at home, and introduced the club officers. It was noted that the absence of the Newsletter Editor raised the general scruffiness of the attending members by several percentage points. The Commodore asked for volunteers to serve as Bo'sun and Fleet Captain. There were no injuries from members rushing to fill the vacancies.

7:10 - The Commodore asked for member comments for the Safety Minute. Various tips, tales, and warnings were given.

7:15 - The purser gave his report on the state of the club's finances, a spread-sheet of the 2014 budget and real expenses, and a projected budget for 2015.

7:23 - The Bo'sun introduced Matt Bruns, a new member, and introduced two guests from Washington, D.C., and Bob and John, two HASK members who offered to help with the 50th Anniversary celebration.

7:30 - The Fleet Captain asked for trip reports. Trips were reported, and planned trips were announced.

7:40 - For the Conservation Report, the Commodore mentioned the Buffalo Bayou Demonstration Project, and there was a general discussion of the pros and cons of the project.

7:50 - Honey Leveen spoke about the 50th Anniversary party. Joe Coker gave a summary of the flotilla protocols, and Natalie Wiest discussed the silent auction.

8:15 - The Commodore gave a demonstration on navigating the club website, how to up-load photographs, and the speed of the wi-fi in the Bayland Community Center.

8:35 - The Commodore moved that the meeting adjourn, and that we all remove to Jax's. The motion carried.

Faithfully yours,
Frank Ohrt
