HCC’s 50th Anniversary Party Update

June, 2014
by Honey Leveen

Save this date: October 11, 2014. It’s the date of HCC’s once-in-a-lifetime 50th anniversary party!

HCC’s 50th Anniversary party planning is now in high gear. The party planning committee had its monthly meeting on June 12, 2014, an hour before HCC’s meeting. I want to thank those who attended. I am grateful to be working with a group of devoted volunteers who are dedicated to creating what will be a really fun, memorable event.

Our next planning meeting will be on July 9, 2014, at 5:30 PM, in the same room where HCC meets. You are welcome to join us.

Watch for monthly party invitations. There’s a place to click and RSVP. Please do.

This event now has its own Facebook Events page, please visit:

HCC members will get two free tickets to the party. Non-HCC members must pay $15 each to attend, or they can join HCC for $25 and get two free tickets.

T
he party will be catered by a BBQ company. We’re considering a few and want to choose the very best tasting, best value vendor. To accomplish this, Natalie Wiest has offered to create some late afternoon paddles, followed by dinners at competing BBQ’s, so that we can try their food before we contract for catering. Watch for her invites to these paddle trips.

Our committee is in the process of calling paddle-friendly retailers to ask them to attend, donate a raffle item, and exhibit. We are doing the same thing for several key organizations HCC has partnered with for years. Such partner organizations will be offered tickets to the party and a display table.

We are delighted to announce John Bartos has offered to MC the event. We have an active sub-committee that will develop a special program for the party. The program will feature historic pictures and honor people who’ve had important influence on HCC’s history.

A flotilla of 50 decorated boats will precede the party.

Due to increasing demand for HCC 50th anniversary logo apparel and due to poor results from our custom apparel program, our committee will discuss using a different vendor and printing a larger quantity of t-shirts at our July meeting.

Here’s the tentative party schedule:
