Louis Aulbach to appear in documentary
by Linda Gorski

Louis Aulbach, a member of the the Houston Canoe Club, may soon be featured on a national TV show.

For two weeks in September a Los Angeles based film crew was in Houston gathering information for an upcoming
documentary on Buffalo Bayou.  The crew was working under a grant from the SWA Group, a world leader in landscape architecture, planning and urban design with projects spanning over 60 countries. SWA Group, which has a large office in Houston,  has taken a lead role in transforming  the Buffalo Bayou Promenade, a 23 acre recreation area along the banks of the Bayou.

As one of the local experts chosen to work with the production team to familiarize it with Houston and Buffalo Bayou, Aulbach,  accompanied by HCC member Linda Gorski,  took the camera crew  on the Buffalo Bayou Partnership’s tour boat  for an up close look at the Bayou on Saturday, September 8.

During the two-hour boat tour, Aulbach gave an overview of Houston’s history from its beginnings at Allens Landing and its development along Buffalo Bayou.  The camera crew shot video of hidden historic sites on the banks of the bayou, the vintage bridges that span the bayou, and the remarkable views of the City from the water.

We’ll let you know when this documentary is scheduled to be shown on the local Public Broadcasting Station.
