HOUSTON CANOE CLUB GENERAL MEETING
July 11, 2012

Honey introduced two guests: Jeff & Tricia Corbett from New Waverly. Later, two more guests arrived. 

 

Ken brought up the minutes from the last meeting and they were approved.

 

RECENT TRIPS

  • Harmon Everett did Hidalgo Falls on July 4. There was low water, but it was a nice day.  
  • Joe Coker did Pickett’s Bayou and cleaned out a large amount of debris on a 11.3 mile trip. He also did the Spring Fling at Lake Charlotte with 14 boats plus another trip to Lake Charlotte for birding with 16 boats. 
  • Paul Woodcock did Horsepen Bayou up through the golf course. 
  • Harmon Everett did the Grand River in Michigan. 
  • Ken McDowell did a saltwater marsh at the Barrier islands in Charleston, South Carolina where tides of 6 feet make trip planning very interesting.  
  • Frank Ohrt went on the Week of Rivers in North Carolina. This is a 9 day event over July 4 where you get to choose your route each morning. 
  • Robert Langley did the Ocoee River.    

UPCOMING TRIPS  

  • Natalie Wiest will do Luce Bayou on July 22.
  • Christy Long will do the San Marcos on July 29-30.
  • Paul Woodcock is going to Kansas on Aug 21. 

MISCELLANEOUS STUFF


Harmon Everett is finishing the paperwork for HCC to get its non-profit status back. Our checking balance, taking into account bills pending, is about $4,000

Joe Coker gave the safety minute. It was a very long minute, but he gave lots of info on lightning. See the article in the newsletter.
