A new book from Texas A&M University Press, Viva Texas Rivers! Adventures, Misadventures, and Glimpses of Nirvana along Our Storied Waterways, celebrates our state’s rivers. Here is what award-winning filmmaker and author Severo Perez has to say about it:
“Davis and Pfiester have assembled a terrific collection of essays, histories, poems, celebrations, lamentations and personal recollections of Texas rivers. See and experience what explorers, kayakers and the people who live nearby have discovered. Like polished river stones, each entry is a gem”.
An exhibit by the same name will be open on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos through May 31. Among many other objects, it features the canoe paddle that was used by John Graves during his epic three-week paddle down the Brazos River, chronicled in his book Goodbye to a River.
