HCC River Access Donation
April 13, 2011
Many HCC paddlers enjoy a day on the San Marcos River, about a 2½ hour drive west of Houston. Tom Goynes is a strong advocate for paddling on that river in San Marcos, Texas, and lays out a river access problem there in detail in an article posted

, including photos. This article was also duplicated on the HCC paddling forum on this website.
At the April 13 General Membership meeting, Vice Commodore Joe Coker proposed that the club donate $1,000 to the
Texas River Protection Association (TRPA)
fund to preserve this river access. Fleet Captain Paul Woodcock also spoke in favor of this idea. Club Purser Harmon Everett explained the financial situation of the club, with a healthy fund in an interest-bearing certificate of deposit, and more than sufficient funds in the club checking account to make the pay-out without affecting the club's ability to make other upcoming account payables.
After some discussion of the proposal, a vote was then taken. The motion passed unanimously, with no dissenting votes.
