Course summary: Beginner to intermediate. Flat water up to Class 1 whitewater. (Primarily for kayaks but limited number of canoes will be accepted.) Focus: Strokes, Maneuvers, Techniques--lauching, landing, essential paddling strokes, braces, eddy turns, peel outs, ferrying. Rescue and Recovery--wet exit, deep-water rescue, throw rope, etc.. Technical Knowledge--equipment, safety, hypothermia, hazards, river reading. Three-mile paddle down river after class.
