Saturday, Oct. 16, I went to the Dragon Boat Festival in Sugerland. The weather was perfect and the races were exciting, even though I had no connection with any of the teams, which included corporations, special groups and schools. There was a Kung Fu demonstration and Hula dance group for further entertainment. The Texas Dragon Boat Association provides the boats and is planning to build an east-end boat house. There were many booths with good food.
It was a very enjoyable day and I did talk to a number of people about the Houston Canoe Club. There are a number of races each year. Each boat has about 18 paddlers per boat, and I was wondering if the Houston Canoe Club would be interested in creating a team.
