The annual Houston Canoe Club Christmas party was held on Saturday,
December 5th at the Upper Kirby Building on Richmond Avenue. Organizers
Ken and Cindy McDowell and Harmon Everett did an amazing job hosting
one of the best HCC parties in recent history. Sixty members and guests
filled the room and shared the holiday spirit.

Commodore Bill Grimes introduced members of the HCC Board and presented
an appreciation award to Fraser Baker for his many years of service to
the Houston Canoe Club. Fraser developed the club's website, set up the
format for the newsletter and served in a variety of board positions.
He and his wife Janice also lead a popular annual paddling trip on the
Colorado River. Fraser recently retired as the Club's webmaster, a
position which has been filled by Harmon Everett.
Fleet Captain Donna Grimes led a discussion of paddling trips that were
held in December including one on Greens Bayou the morning of the
Christmas party which was led by John Ohrt. (See trip report by John
Bayduss elsewhere in this newsletter).
The party was a great way to kick off the holiday season. See you in
2010.
