Events and Trips
The HCC coordinates about 50 floats accumulating some 7,000 member miles per year. These floats are on coastal waters, bayous, big, slow moving rivers, and on white water. Most are day trips and many are overnighters from one day to a week or more in duration. The HCC is also your connection to overnight river celebrations hosted by several Texas clubs, attended by hundreds of paddlers on big rivers with dutch oven feasts. Policies - Please Read Carefully HCC MAKES NO CLAIM TO THE SUITABILITY OF THE TRIP/EVENT OR THE RELIABILITY OF THE ORGANIZER(S). Trips and events are organized by individual members for the benefit of members and invited guests of the Houston Canoe Club, Inc. (HCC) and the Paddlesport Risk Management. Guests are asked to join the Houston Canoe Club after three trips as a guest. Guests must sign a waiver for each trip. The coordinator of each trip or event reserves the right to limit the size of the group or to refuse participation to anyone who does not possess the skill levels or safety equipment required for that trip. Trip coordinators are volunteers and merely organize the trip for the convenience of the participants and do not make any warranties of safety. Although we stress safety guidelines, paddling contains unforeseen risks, and participants are ultimately responsible for their own safety. A Waiver of Liability will be required to be signed by all participants of trips and events.
