Minutes of the Houston Canoe Club General Meeting - September 10, 2025

The meeting was called to order by Bruce Bodson

Tyrone White gave a membership report - there are 127 active members

Harmon Everett gave a safety minute - "wear your pfd"

Harmon Everett requested that members send him articles for the newsletter

Tom Douglas gave a conservation report - check the Conservation Forum for details

Bruce Bodson gave the Fleet Captain's report - one spot was open for the Current River trip

The speaker was Colleen Gilbert, the executive director of the Greens Bayou Coalition. She gave a talk on their work cleaning up and preventing flooding on the Bayou, and the creation of a Greens Bayou PaddleTrail. October 4th is the Greens Bayou Regatta - all were encouraged to enter,

Sept. 3, 2025  - Board Meeting Minutes

 

 

The meeting was called to order by Brent at 7:00.

 

Brent, Christy, Tyrone, Tracy, Dutch, and Bruce attended the board meeting along with Tom as our Conservation chair.

 

Harmon is Out - No newsletter update this month.

 

Brent announces he won’t make the GM meeting.

 

Tyrone’s membership news reports five new members this month : including Ann Best, Nicky A., and Russel C.  Our renewing member is Linda Davis. We have 127 Active members and 1069 Facebook followers.

 

Tracy presents the Purser Report.

 

The purser and recorder announce a Lake Powell trip and will be absent from the GM meeting too.

 

Tom presents several new conservation events for this month.  See the ‘Conservation Forum’ page on the HCC website. 

 

Christy covers recent trips and our combined membership mileage. which stands at 1836 miles to date.  

 

Christy requests a 2025 Christmas party date which the group chooses for Dec. 6th with plans to include a paddle.

 

This months speaker is from the Greens Bayou Partnership.

 

The board meeting adjourns at 8:13.
