Jackie Medcalf is the Founder and Executive Director of Texas Health and Environment Alliance (THEA), a nonprofit dedicated to protecting public health and the environment across the Houston-Galveston region. With a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Geology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, she founded THEA in 2015 to address the environmental health threats posed by toxic waste sites, particularly Superfund sites like the San Jacinto River Waste Pits and the Jones Road Groundwater Plume. Under her leadership, THEA has mobilized over 60,000 voices to hold polluters accountable and ensure cleaner, safer water. Jackie’s work has earned her recognition, including being named to Houston Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” and Lois Gibbs’ Champion for Change award. Her efforts bridge community voices, regulatory action, scientific research, and diverse political perspectives, uniting communities to ensure the protection of waterways and the health of future generations, contributing to more resilient coastal futures.
