HCC General Membership Meeting January 8, 2025.  

Our meeting was held in the auditorium room of the Bayland Community Center which started at 7:05pm. 

 

Our turnout was a little smaller than usual with a few missing officers. Sometimes it can’t be helped. Our commodore Brent H. was absent due to family emergency. Including Boatswain Tyrone W.  he missed the meeting. And Tom D. our conservation chair had a prior engagement.

 

2024 Pursers Report by Bob N.

 

Christy L. our fleet captain summarized recent trips since November.

She also gave a shout-out to last years trip coordinators and has a printout of members’ mileage for 2024. The 2024 -100 Mile + paddlers will receive their awards in March.   

 

Harmon E. gives his newsletter update from the Zoom connection and warns us to beware of the advancing covid sickness.

 

Bruce B. suggests we look into the forum for Tom’s conservation topics and events.

 

 

Chris A. welcomes us to come and paddle with our friends at Houston Sea Kayakers.

 

Our January Speaker Bruce B. presents ‘Christmas Bird Count Paddle Trips’ which is in its 125th year. He organized the paddle excursions in three locations and tallied all species seen in the following areas : Old river, San Jacinto river, and Trinity river. The geographical center for myriad of birding habitats continues to migrate northward due to warming climates.
