Many months of dedication and hard work paid off spectacularly on October 6, 2024, as HCC celebrated its 60th anniversary with a full day of festivities.
Starting around 8AM, volunteers prepared for the paddle event at the Armand Bayou, welcoming participants of a special commemorative flotilla. By 9AM, approximately 27 kayaks and canoes embarked on the flotilla, creating a memorable paddling journey on a beautiful autumn morning.
Following the flotilla, guests gathered at the familiar Bay Area Community Center in Seabrook, TX. There, we all enjoyed an array of snacks, soft drinks, exhibits, and a door prizes from the Whole Earth Provisions, The Artist Boat, Oak Geo science, HCC, members of the board and listened to West Hansen’s talk and socialized with past and current members and officers.
The event drew around 70 attendees, including former HCC Commodores and others from the HCC’s past. A delightful dinner, catered by Joe’s BBQ of Alvin, was served, culminating in an engaging program led by John Bartos.
The success of this event was a testament to the hard work and dedication of HCC's volunteers. Special thanks go to Christy Long for coordinating volunteer shifts, Joe Coker for organizing the flotilla, and many others who played crucial roles. The planning committee, meeting regularly for a year, ensured the event's success through their collective effort and dedication. This remarkable teamwork resulted in a truly memorable 60th anniversary celebration.
