Tom Douglas, Conservation Chairman; Natalie Wiest, Ex-Officio; and Joe Coker were also in attendance.
60th Anniversary Party:
Brent mentioned that HCC was founded on October 7, 1964, and our 60th anniversary party is on the fortuitous date of October 6, 2004. To-date, 65 people have signed up for the party and 30 people have signed up for the paddle.
Joe mentioned that he has sent the float plan to paddlers. There will not be a shuttle. Instructions and map included with signup. Chuck will take photos with a drone and camera. Joe said he would check with Chuck regarding regulations in the park for the use of a drone. We have three or four safety boats. Three paddlers have signed up that we do not know, and Joe will email them and ask about their level of experience and what type of boat they have. Brent stated we should have towlines on the safety boats. Tom stated he will bring vests and water.
Brent stated that John Bartos will MC our event. Christy stated the party agenda has good flow. Alice will make nametags for officers and staff, as well as table signs for the vendors. Bob will bring money for tips. Brent will bring a coffee urn. There is an ice machine at the facility. For cleanup, all we must do is remove the tablecloths and clean up any messes. We will not have to put the tables away. Harmon stated he has about 120 pictures for the slideshow.
Tyrone gave the boatswain report and stated that in September we gained four new members, 13 renewing members, for a total membership of 141. Facebook has 1038 members.
Bob gave the purser report and stated that we had two bills last month: website fees and membership fee to American Whitewater.
Harmon stated that his next meeting’s safety minute will be about sharing your passwords with loved ones.
It was decided that our X-mas party would be December 22 at Lake Charlotte. We voted that we would not have a general meeting in December, but we will have a board meeting in December. We will decide at that meeting when to have the first board meeting in January as it falls on the 1st and needs to be rescheduled.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45.
