On Monday, April 8, 2024, the Total Eclipse would enter Texas at 12:30 pm and exit into Oklahoma at 1:45 pm. The Wimberly area was in the path of Totality, which means the eclipse would be 100% if viewed from that area and last for 2 minutes.

I scheduled a club trip to camp and paddle from April 7 to April 9 at San Marcos River Retreat. Amy and I wanted to paddle on Tuesday, but Frank, Liz, Mike, Christine, and Thomas did not.

The Farrells arrived on Saturday. The rest of us arrived Sunday afternoon. We heard the traffic was going to be bad on Monday just before and after the eclipse. We all departed on Tuesday.

Liz, Frank, and Mike experienced the eclipse on the water by paddling from San Marcos River Retreat to Sculls. Christine and Thomas stayed in camp during the Eclipse.

While Amy and I went to a friend’s home to enjoy the spectacle. The clouds covered the very last of the eclipse so we did not see it, but the clouds could not hide the growing darkness that occurred. For at least two minutes it was as dark as night.

We had wonderful campfires on Sunday and Monday nights.

It was well worth all the effort we put into the event.
