The annual HCC XMAS celebration took place this year on Sunday 12/10 and came off with great success! It was a little breezy and cool out at the Lake Charlotte Pavilion, but we were all bundled up and had a great feast! Many thanks, as always, to Alice N. for organizing everything and to all the folks who brought the delicious goodies. A fun time and much good cheer was enjoyed by all!
We even managed to do a nippy but nice little paddle, led by Yours Truly. Conditions were marginal early on with Feels-Like temps in the low 40’s and NNW winds at 16-20. Definitely not particularly inviting out there, but fortunately things settled down a bit, and the bright sunshine chased away the cold. So off we went for a quick (2 hr, 6 mile) jaunt across Charlotte, up Mac Bayou and deep into the woods via our favorite Secret Cut where we were sheltered from most of the wind. (Stats: Charlotte 8.3, Trinity 6.9 @ 1,380 cfs, Water temp 66)
All in all, it turned out to be a wonderful day!
