The put-in at Norman
Conditions were perfect when Sam and I unloaded our kayaks and got underway at 12:10. The gage was just a little below the minimum recommended for starting at Norman (should be higher than 6.7’, was 6.2’), but we decided we could do it by reading the river.
It was perfect. The water demanded our attention, and we matched its requirements until the very end when a tree caught Sam. Then I failed at river navigation when I didn’t start looking for the takeout (which is hidden) until after we had passed it. All good fun.
