The Trip
We paddled seven miles. The water is the color of dark tea due to the tannic runoff from the pine trees. It was cool and nice to swim in.
There are concrete boat ramps at the put in and take out, making it easy to get in and out of the water. Both areas have packed sand for the parking lot. Each of the parking lots held a little water from recent rains but were not muddy.
We launched at 10 am. Floated for a while then stopped for a lunch and a swim break. We floated again until we reached the takeout around 1.
The river winds back and forth bringing new beaches and views in sight. The current was flowing at 250 CFS and falling. We had to avoid a few downed trees. This section of the Creek is popular with locals, but we had it to ourselves.
While on the river, we did not see many birds and no wildlife. But on Lindsey Road we did see deer.
