" Officials are increasingly recognizing that integrating nature into cities is an effective public health strategy to improve mental health. There are hundreds of studies showing that time in nature can benefit people’s psychological well-being and increase social engagement. Much of this research to date has focused on the role of green space in improving mental health. He had no use for it, but felt it still had value. The wood spoke to him. "I had just a bunch of long, skinny scraps," Carter said. "I didn't want to throw them away. "I just studied the wood and let it tell me what it wanted to be..."
