The Houston Canoe Club will host a Holiday Party for its members on Saturday, December 14th, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The party venue is the South Texas College of Law in downtown Houston at 1303 San Jacinto Street, Houston, Texas.
The Club will provide turkey & ham, soft drinks, ice, plates and cutlery. Please bring a pot luck side dish, such as vegetables, stuffing, salad or dessert. You are also welcome to bring your own adult beverages.
Here are three maps in pdf format that you can print to help you get to the location:
Map 1 is the law school handout showing the building and parking lot locations downtown.
Map 2 is the driving and walking routes.
Map 3 is a satellite view showing the building and parking lot.

If you have items to drop off for the party that you can't carry from the parking lot, you can pull up to the main entrance on San Jacinto in the middle of the block, on the right hand side. HCC members will be manning that spot to load items onto carts to wheel them up to the party venue. After unloading, go straight through the light at Polk (one-way street), turn right on Dallas, and right on Caroline to circle back to the parking lot. (The right turn at Polk can be dicey because of the valet parking for House of Blues.) The parking lot is the one labeled as "Faculty, Staff and Visitor Parking" on the map. Just pull up to the parking lot gate, push the intercom button, and say you're there for the Houston Canoe Club party.
From the parking lot you will walk across Caroline Street, and go either left or right around the block to the main building entrance on the opposite side of the block.
The law school building will be open, and that's where the guard desk is. Tell the guard you're with the Houston Canoe Club, and you'll be free to proceed. From there, easels with signs and arrows will be posted to guide you to the elevators and to the 6th floor party room.
If you need more information about the Holiday party, please contact Frank Ohrt,
Assistance is needed for set-up, take-down and clean-up, and if you can volunteer to help, contact Frank at fgohrt@gmail.com or 713-865-6482.
Set-up helpers should arrive about 6:00 to decorate the room and lay out the food. Take-down and clean-up helpers should plan on staying a little later to make sure we leave the room in the same condition in which we found it, or better. The building janitorial service will take care of the sweeping, mopping and trash removal.
For questions about the venue and parking procedures, contact Liz Dennis at 713-826-9765.
Santa hopes to see you there! Have you been a good little paddler this year?
