After a brief safety orientation, light check and PFD check, our little group of three got in the water from our purpose-built kayak dock and paddled directly to the canal, noting that the music had already started without us. We paddled in with a couple of people on paddleboards, and stayed together as a loose and shifting group of five for the rest of the concert. We found the spot where the most music was pouring out of the arena, and settled in with snacks, drinks, random conversation and commentary. The audio quality was the best we have had – very good.

We heard a lot of good music, including the signature songs from each group, “X’s and O’s” from Elle King, “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” from Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and “Magic Man” from Heart.

Our group was a collection of “all new” people, so we had lots of random orientation discussions. While we were engaged in music-listening and conversation, Brian ordered a Papa John’s meat lovers pizza delivered to the Riva Row dock, which he shared with everyone. Brian had an LED fishing light string hanging under his boat, and as we were paddling back to our dock after the concert, the battery that was powering the lights caught on fire in the bag (note to self, let batteries breathe out in the open).
A very pleasant, low-key time was had by all, with the one exception for Brian and his battery.
