Lake Woodlands - Alice Cooper

This was the first of our Thursday evening concert events and we had just one glitch in the plan - the coordinator got caught in some worse-than-usual rush-hour traffic and was 15 minutes late to the put-in. Everyone who registered was there, ready to go, when he arrived.
Great Put-In / Take-Out at Lake’s Edge
After a brief safety orientation, light check and PFD check, we got in the water from a new, purpose-built kayak dock and paddled directly to the canal, confirming that the music had already started without us. We found the spot where the most music was pouring out of the arena, dropped anchor and settled in with snacks, drinks, and sporadic conversation and commentary.
Halestorm seemed a little less vibrant than expected. Alice Cooper came on with a bang and played some great head-nodding music (as in “can’t resist moving with the beat”, not nodding off). Most of our commentary consisted of, “How can he sing and scream like that all these years and still have a voice at all?”

We discussed other music we enjoy, some of the more obscure opportunities in Houston to hear music, great music of the earlier eras, jazz, opera, and some general life stuff.
A very pleasant, low-key time was had by all.
