William Hajdik, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation – began employment with the City of Sugar Land in 2013 as the Parks Superintendent. After three years with the city, he was promoted to assistant director of Parks and Recreation. William oversees the park’s capital improvement projects, park development, and park maintenance.
Prior to coming to Sugar Land, William served as the Facilities Superintendent for the Parks and Recreation Department at the City of Missouri City for 6 years.
William graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Systems Management and a minor in business. His passion for trees led him to become a ISA Certified Arborist and an active member of the Houston Area Urban Forestry Council. He has hosted several tree planting events and introduced the city to The Right Tree, Right Place Program partnership with Center Point Energy.
William has been instrumental in several major park projects including, the transition of Cullinan Park from the City of Houston, Festival Site and Brazos River Park development, Lonnie Green Park improvements, and the recent expansion of Mayfield Park. He also enjoys speaking at the local schools about parks and recreation.
He leads a team of 15 staff members who are responsible for the care and maintenance of the 30 parks in Sugar Land.
William is married and has two daughters and a son. He enjoys carpentry, skiing, fishing and traveling in his free time.
