Antonietta Quigg
|
Professor Quigg, the senior Associate Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies in the Department of Marine Biology of Texas A&M, will be speaking at our April 10 meeting.
Professor Quigg will give a layman's description of her research on phytoplankton. Although less conspicuous than dwarf palmetto, cocklebur or giant cane, these microscopic plants have a disproportionate impact on our environment since they are at the bottom of a food chain, upon which a long list of creatures benefit, us included!
Dan Roy will collect some samples the night before the meeting and show his catch on his electronic microscope at the meeting, to demonstrate what we can all do in the future to support such research.
