Due to attendance problems, the meeting was held as a telephone conference. Dialing in were Commodore Honey Leveen, Vice-commodore Ann Derby, Purser Kent Walters, Boatswain Paul Woodcock, Fleet Captain Natalie Wiest, and Recorder Frank Ohrt.
The Commodore called the meeting to order.
The Purser reported that we’re a bit ahead of our projected budget for the year.
The Fleet Captain announced that she will be out of town for the meetings in July and August, and asked for a volunteer to fill in for her. She then discussed the planned Bolivar Peninsula Nature Trail, and asked if the club would endorse it. We all agreed. She also recommended that we contact the TCEQ with our individual endorsements. The matter was put on the agenda for discussion at the membership meeting.
The Commodore said that she would also be out of town in July and August. The Vice Commodore offered to serve as Commodore for those meetings.
It was resolved to ask the Webmaster’s advice on whether we need a new computer.
The Boatswain said he will be unable to perform his duties for a month or so for medical reasons. The officers agreed to muddle through somehow.
The Vice Commodore announced the speaker for the July membership meeting would be Patti Carothers of Southwest Paddlesports, speaking about the American Canoe Association. July’s meeting would have paddling films instead of a speaker, and August’s meeting would have a club swap meet. Possible programs for subsequent months’ meetings were discussed.
The Fleet Captain offered to serve on a website database committee, and noted that it would be a lot of work.
The Commodore announced that the next Safety Minute would be on the Coast Guard requirements for marine water paddling craft.
The recorder offered to investigate the status of 288 Lake for club activities.
The officers agreed to investigate getting a club Instagram account.
The commodore closed the meeting, and we all hung up.
