Harmon Creek Marina & RV Park

Under New Ownership!
I took a trip to Harmon Creek Marina & RV Park located near Riverside, TX, about 20 minutes east of Huntsville, TX. The park was very clean and it was obvious they were benefiting from all of the spring rain as the foliage was lush and green.
The cottage I stayed in was clean and comfortable and had a nice back porch to spend the evening or have morning breakfast. Tent sites backed up to the creek and had picnic tables, fire rings and lots of room to spread out. There were lots of RV sites, 3 boat launches and a store with restrooms and showers behind it. The area behind the store had been bulk headed and had a fish cleaning station and benches for fishing or just sitting and enjoying the outdoors. The sparkling swimming pool was the icing on the cake after a hot day of paddling. Why would anyone want to leave?
Numerous paddle opportunities abound as Harmon Creek and Caney Creek converge in the area and there are lots of offshoots from the creeks for exploring, photographing and fishing. Numerous birds could be seen and heard as well as other wildlife.
The water color was different in each creek. Harmon Creek was a little cloudy greenish color whereas Caney Creek was a rusty dark brown but yet, other areas it was typical lake water for this area. I took my kayak and saw as much as I could but there was still more to see.
It was nice to see the stars at night and one night I saw a drone flying around but never saw the owner. Hmmmm.
Donny and his son, Tanner were very nice and helpful and a real delight to talk to. They are the kind of people that when talking to them, the conversation flowed freely and before you knew it, the afternoon was gone. Donny has owned the place for about 3 months now. So in spite of how it may have been in the past, I encourage everyone to pay them a visit as this truly is a beautiful area and has so much to offer. Fall is approaching (hopefully) so it would be a good time to get away for a weekend paddle and have a nice campfire. And it’s only 80 miles from Houston.
