New Vice Commodore's Introduction
January, 2015
by Fran Wilcox
Since I’m new to the Canoe Club and y’all really don’t know me, I’d like to take this opportunity to say “Hi”. I’m excited to be a part of the Canoe Club! It’s been a goal of mine to paddle and I now have a kayak and opportunities to do so. I’ve run several marathons and half marathons, ridden many MS150 bike rides, completed some sprint triathlons and sailed in a few “canvas cup” regattas (where we usually were in last place). I also love to snorkel. So to sum it up, I like to be active and love the water.
I’m from New Jersey and have been here since 1978. I played trombone professionally in Houston back in the day and had to switch careers. I became a Special Ed teacher and I am now at Pin Oak Middle School after teaching at Lamar High School for 16 years.
My goals for the club are to listen to you, learn as much as I can and serve by getting the speakers whom you request! I want to paddle, bird watch, camp, enjoy your company and get to know you better. Thank you for this opportunity!
