Craig Howard |
“The Voyageurs” - The historic canoe expedition from Montreal to Mexico.
In 1976 sixteen Chicago suburban high school students, six teachers and a Franciscan priest set off on a very special reenactment that has not been well publicized, until now! Craig Howard will bring to life the true story of their 3,300-mile expedition to retrace the 17th century journey by LaSalle from Montreal to the Gulf of Mexico. Every detail needed to be historically accurate – down to building their own canoes and making muskets. This journey was not for the faint of heart. Mr. Howard will chronicle the adventures, trials and successes of this 8-month feat.
This will be a wonderful insight into the pioneer spirit on which our country was built. Mr. Howard welcomes and wants to entertain your questions.
Craig Howard is an author, historian and former Copy Editor for the Houston Chronicle. He is originally from Chicago and had been a reporter there for 6 years. He is married and lives in Houston. He enjoys running.
