I am pleased and excited to announce that Skip Johnson, long-time HCC member, will give our program on May 13, 2015. We hope you’ll join us.
Skip told me, “I am always open to talk about boats!” He is a retired architect. His boat building hobby is both a craft and an art.
Skip built his first boat about 55 years ago. Since then, he’s built about 20 more. Some were commissioned, some were experimental, some were for his own use. In addition, he has designed about 30-40 boats. He has helped in some way with nearly all the multi-person boats used in the TX Water Safari.
Here is a very cool video showing how Skip builds boats.
It was clear to me when we spoke that Skip is not only extremely knowledgeable about boat-building, but also very passionate about it. I am sure that we’re in for an entertaining, informative program.
