Web Site Visits
April, 2015

It has been two years since I last checked the web site traffic statistics. So it is way past time to re-visit that issue.
One of the features that our Club Express web host gives us is a variety
of management reports, which, among other things, allows us to
monitor the number of web site visits. The granularity is not there to tell us what specific pages people are looking at within our web site, but it does tell us how many people at least look at the home page. This is called a "visit".
I have run the web visits report to include the last three years, downloaded that data to an Excel spreadsheet, and then produced a graph of the numbers, by month. Months are on the vertical axis, in ascending chronological order, and the horizontal axis is the web visits count. The blue bars are the web visits for each month, and the green line is a rolling average trend line.
As you can see from the chart, the Houston Canoe Club is currently receiving an average of about 6,800 web site visits per month, or about 230 per day. This compares to just 2,200 visits per month, or 73 per day, in 2012. That's a little more than a three-fold increase! We are definitely moving in a good direction.
