Seven of us ran the Luling Zedler Mill Paddling Trail section of the San Marcos River on 17 January. The group was a hybrid of folks from the Texas Canoe Polers tribe and Houston Canoe Club. There were three people poling, two solo kayakers and one pair in a tandem kayak
This section of the San Marcos is a designated Texas Paddling Trail (Luling Zedler Mill). This section is an easy paddle. The gradient is low and there are no rapids. The only obstacle we encountered was one tree down that required a bit of maneuvering and hopping out of the boat to drag the boat ten feet. The shuttle is short and there are public parks at the put-in and take-out with good parking and boat access.
