Besides being a memorable and fun event, the Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration was a financial success for the club. In May of this year, the membership approved a $3,800 budget for the event. This is more than the total annual expenses the club has incurred in recent years so this was a very large commitment for the club. I’m happy to report the Committee charged with delivering the event met the target. Total income and expenses for the Celebration are as follows:
Managing an event of this size within budget took a lot of perseverance and ingenuity on the part of the planning committee. My hat is off to them.
Besides the great result on the costs of the Celebration, a silent auction and some cash donations raised a significant amount of cash. Due to the generosity of several local businesses and one former club member, there was no cost to the club to hold the silent auction. The Fiftieth Anniversary planning committee intends to make a recommendation to the club membership on the disposition of these funds at the November meeting.
