28, but also a Boy Scout trip in the mid-1960's.
What boats do you now own?
Canoes- Blue Hole Sunburst, Old Town Scout, Dagger Reflection15. Kayaks - 1989 Seda Glider sea kayak, Dagger Animas whitewater, Bell Rob Roy. Rowboat - 4 by 10 pre-1940 wooden pram. All my boats were probably made in the last century.
Do you prefer a canoe or a kayak?
Canoe if I have a choice, but I will take out the best boat for the circumstance.
Do you prefer a single blade or double blade paddle?
Will single blade if I have a choice, but I use either depending upon the water I paddle.
What do you like most about the sport?
Canoe camping.
What do you like least about the sport?
Loading boats and gear and driving.
Why do you paddle?
To get out in nature.
If you could do a fantasy tandem paddle with anyone you wish, with whom would it be?
A beautiful woman, but I usually solo.
What was your best moment ever in a canoe?
The 7 Pecos trips I have taken.
What was your worst moment ever?
Having to get help to get over a strainer around the Old and Lost River area.
Anything else you would like to say?
I have been to all the Southwest Canoe Rendezvous and volunteered on them. Also, I was a Vice Commodore of the HCC from 1999-2000. I am the last President of Bayou City Whitewater Club since it does not have a physical existence anymore. Also, I have paddled in more countries (Canada, United States, Mexico, Bahamas, Belize and Costa Rica) than I have states (Texas, Louisiana and Alaska).
