Chris Arceneaux

Birthplace?
Morgan City, LA

Age?  Old enough to remember when the Beatles were sweeping the nation.

Marital status?  Married

Family?  A daughter and a son.

Occupation?  Oilfield Sales

What other hobbies do you have?
Fishing, camping, hunting, hiking, biking, building kayaks & organic gardening.

A couple of tasty reds

How did you get started canoeing?

We've always had cajun pirogues (canoe-like) around to mess about in local lakes and bayous. They were just another way to enjoy the water.

How many years of paddling experience do you have?
More than 35 in general, but 17 serious years.

What boats do you now own?
Pygmy Arctic Tern 15 kayak, Action Fish strip built kayak, JemWaterCraft WadeFish 15 Sit-on-Top kayak and their Swamp Girl 15 canoe. And a Pygmy Osprey Triple.

What is your favorite place to paddle?

Florida's Forgotten Coast and Florida's Big Bend region.

Do you prefer a canoe or a kayak?

Kayak, unless I'm on a flat creek.

Do you prefer a single blade or double blade paddle?
Mostly a double. My canoe handles better with a double blade paddle too.

What do you like most about the sport?
Sharing water time with my son and with good friends.

What do you like least about the sport?
Running up on an oyster reef.

What is an important safety tip?
Stay hydrated.

Why do you paddle?
To get grounded.

If you could do a fantasy tandem paddle with anyone you wish, with whom would it be?
I already have.

What was your best moment ever in a canoe?
Finding our campsite Dallus Creek on the Florida Big Bend Saltwater Paddling Trail in 2006 rates high in best moments.

What was your worst moment ever?

Losing my temper.  That wasn't too cool. I wish I could take it back.

One big d--n drum

Anything else you would like to say?
There are two places I can really think; in the seat of a kayak and on the back of a horse. I no longer have access to horses.
