August 14h, 2013
Bayland Park Community Center
Recorder: Tisha Matticks

Commodore: Harmon Everett
The meeting was called to order by Commodore Harmon Everett at 07:08 P.M. Harmon introduced himself and the fellow HCC Board Members, and welcomed everyone.

Harmon gave a reminder of the 50th Anniversary for next year. We are still looking for memorabilia or people who can share their experiences with HCC from years past.  And we are seeking a committee chair for the 50th Anniversary.

Harmon requested permission to pull some of the pictures off the HCC Website for our 50th Anniversary.

Ken Anderson suggested to help with donations towards education courses. Honey Leveen & Harmon are meeting on friday to start the 50th Anniversary Committee meeting. (Ann has agreed to help out.)

Safety Minute:
From Harmon Everett; Paddle and make every effort to use the paddle properly. Clothes you wear on the water is an issue. Long sleeve, hat for your head, suntan lotion, shoes to cover toes, no cotton, synthetic clothing. winter wear, use layered insulated wear. Light jacket even for summer days, especially when it has just rained and a chill passes through. Temperature can drop on the colder side.

Conservation: John Bartos
Information only; An item regarding TX Parks & Wildlife for the Devils River commission. Problem has taken place at Baker’s Crossing. TX State Park Wildlife has acquired ownership for the put-in for Devils River and require a limit of only 12 permits per day to put into the river. TX Rivers Conservation has discussed this and don’t like the precedence this is setting of our constitutional rights of paddling down any TX river.

Plan is not finalized; They are going to contact Parks & Wildlife to see if an agreement can be met and satisfied and if not, a possibility of litigation may take place.

Border changes of waterway rights and funding projects by the government.
