"Time for a paddling plan for Greens Bayou" (Houston, TX)
"Area canoeing and kayaking enthusiasts could soon have access to a paddle trail system on Greens Bayou. The Greens Bayou Corridor Coalition is partnering with the National Park Service to create a paddle trail strategic plan for the waterway. Their goal is to open the waterway to canoe and kayak paddlers from Beltway 8 and Interstate 45 south to Thomas Bell Foster Park at Normandy and Interstate 10 East..."

"Hero kayaker battles currents with broken paddle to save trio" (Ireland)
"A kayaker was hailed a hero for helping save three young men from drowning after a short sea excursion in glorious sunshine almost ended in tragedy. Mark O'Mahony heard cries coming from the sea and raced to get his kayak into the water to go to the men's aid. Incredibly, Mr O'Mahony defied a broken paddle, strong tides and gusting winds to reach the men and help them stay afloat until a lifeboat reached the scene..."

"There is little to compare with the spectacle at the start of the annual AuSable River Canoe Marathon. Thousands of cheering fans line the river’s banks. Their collective din reaches a crescendo when the start gun goes off as racers run to the river’s edge carrying their canoes, primed for the 120-mile paddling adventure that finishes well after sunrise. Al Widing has been among the toned, young athletes for 40 years, so he’s the oldest paddler in pack.
