HCC Christmas Party
Dec. 15, 2012
by Honey Leveen
The HCC Christmas Party was held Saturday, Dec. 15th in the Upper Kirby Building on Richmond. The event was organized by party girl Honey Leveen, and hosted by Vice Commodore Joe Coker (Commodore Ken McDowell is still working in Brazil).
The room and buffet set-up was done by Ann, Christy, Bob Naeger, Kenny & Tracie Pape, Jim Goodale, Paul Woodcock, Mary Z, Mary Carter, Honey, Harmon, Tom and Phil Matticks. Instead of the usual store-bought meat dishes, Tisha Matticks home-cooked the ham, turkey, gravy, etc, delivered it, and served it in chafing dishes. Other attendees provided a bountiful buffet of scrumptious side dishes and delicious desserts. A slideshow played on a big screen displaying some of Joe Coker's fabulous photos from his numerous paddling trips this year. Newly elected Commodore Harmon Everett recognized the 2013 club officers. Natalie Wiest was on hand to personally autograph copies of her new book. And Christy Long stepped up to narrate a slideshow of a Pecos River expedition trip.
I appreciate everyone’s help. Because so many pitched in, the party went up and came down swiftly and easily. I think we all enjoyed a lot of good cheer and really good food and drink.
For those that could not attend, here are a few photos from the party to give you an idea of the festivities.
