Crab Trap Cleanup
February 18th
by Cassidy Johnson
Hey all,
I'm
passing this information along from my good friend in the conservation
department at the Houston Zoo.
The annual Crab Trap Clean up, hosted by
TPWD, the Galveston Bay Foundation, and the Houston Zoo is coming around again
this February. Though the clean up will occur from Feb 17th-28th, Saturday the
18th will be the biggest day of the event. The sponsoring organizations are
primarily looking for folks with motorized boats to help participate with the
cleanup; however folks with canoes and kayaks are also being asked to serve as
"spotters" to help find the abandoned crab traps that can then be pulled out of
the water and placed in the larger boats.
If anyone is interested in
participating, please contact my friend Rachel Rommel by sending an email to: rrommel@houstonzoo.org
More
information about the cleanup can also be found at the following web site:

This is a great way to rack up some good karma for the New Year (and
before Fat Tuesday!).
Thanks and take care,
Cassidy Johnson
