Last year Ken Anderson spent 6 months in Port Townsend (Washington)
experiencing the outdoor environment of the Pacific Northwest. Ken paddled
Puget Sound with a local group after he "qualified" to do so by successfully
completing their sea-kayaking class. He kayaked the Olympic peninsula with
another sea-kayaking group and canoed the Green River with a local canoe club.
He'll talk about Deception Pass where the tidal current ranges from 8 to 12
feet twice a day, why you DON'T want to get within 200 meters of an Orca, why
you want a locally-experienced canoeist well in front of you even in Class II
waters, and help you revise your concept of really cold water. He'll share with
you why backpacking with cougars and bears isn't such a bad idea, plus the real
reason overnight campers need a bear vault.
