Cool weather (relatively speaking) and an acceptable dam release, along with Sam's new kayak make this an attractive proposition.
Meet at the Rockport Whitewater Park at 1:00 and shift a few boats, then mosy up to the put-in by the dam.
Plan to pick up trash along the way.
Bring kayak, PFD, paddle, water and snack.
