About this event
This is a pleasant section of the Colorado River, with one moderately strenuous portage around the Garwood Dam. This is a good birding stretch, with a resident population of green kingfishers and at least two active bald eagles nests.
Other than the dam, there are no known river hazards in this segment, but there are several nice little fast water sections. The put in is plush, at the recently rebuilt US 90 boat ramp. The take out is a bit of a mud climb, but not bad by Brazos standards.
