The Artist Boat organization in Galveston has a well trained and certified staff to introduce people to kayaking and conservation. They share spots in their instructor training program, and those trainings will be happening in late February, early March.
One training is for kayaking instructors: Artist Boat hosts Instructor Development Workshops (IDW) and Instructor Certification Exams (ICE) approved by the American Canoe Association (ACA). The workshops are designed to teach participants how to instruct others to paddle correctly, perform rescues, maneuver kayaks and practice essential kayaking techniques. Upon successful completion, participants will have an ACA Instructor Certification and professional kayak training.
The second training is for leading and managing paddle trips. This would be great training for our wannabe trip leaders and we'd love to have more of you. My skills could certainly use a brushup. The Paddlesports Leader Certification supplements ACA’s ICW program. The certification courses equip paddlers with trip planning and leadership skills to provide safe and enjoyable day trips in coastal or river environments. These courses are offered in a Leadership Certification course format, which includes training and examination.
