What: Clean Out Invasive Water Hyacinth Plants That Are Clogging the San Marcos River!
When: Wednesday Sept. 17 and Sunday Oct. 5
Where: San Marcos River Downstream from San Marcos
The San Marcos River Foundation and the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment have been very successful in their initiatives to remove invasive water hyacinth and water lettuce plants from the headwaters of the San Marcos River at Spring Lake, but significant issues with these plants remain farther downstream. To participate in these boat-based cleanups, you will need to bring your own boat, life jacket, paddle, water bottle, sunscreen, etc. The San Marcos River Foundation will provide the materials and training for you to remove the plants. To sign up (required), please email virginia@sanmarcosriver.org and she will send you more specific instructions prior to your selected cleanup date(s).
