When on-site sewage systems (often referred to as septic systems) are working properly, they can protect the quality of water in our streams, lakes, and bays by providing excellent treatment for household wastes. But systems that are failing due to age or lack of needed maintenance can cause big problems. This is a big deal, because there are more than 340,000 of them in the Houston-Galveston area.

Kathryn Tunnell from the Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program and Bill Ervin from the Houston-Galveston Area Council will describe programs to ensure that these systems are kept up to par, which sometimes means finding resources to help residents maintain them. Learn more HERE
