Hidalgo Falls Texas River Festival Oct. 12-13

The Texas Rivers Protection Association announces the 2024 Annual Hidalgo Falls Texas River Festival. Here are a few classes and trips planned for the 2024 festival:

  • (Practically) Full Moon Dinner Paddle- Sunday
  • First Aid for Paddlers
  • Early Morning Stretching and Yoga
  • Blacklight Surprises After Dark - Saturday
  • Canoe/Kayak Camping
  • Used Gear and Boat Sale
  • Understanding River Gages
  • Best Knots for Paddlers and Campers
  • Survival Skills on the Water (Up a Creek Without a Paddle?)
  • Red Cross CPR and First Aid Update
  • Park and Play for Intermediate River Paddlers

Strokes, maneuvers, and rescue classes for both beginner and intermediate paddlers. Even if you’ve taken the river skills classes in the past, you might want a refresher or simply wish to learn from a different instructor. 


ACA, USCA, and/or the American Red Cross certified paddling instructors


Entry Fees

  • $40 per person includes one night camping and all dry land classes. 
  • $50 per person includes one night camping, all dry land classes, and the Brazos River trip or one all day trip.
  • TRPA members get an additional night of free camping.

There will be a pre-sale of festival tee shirts and hopefully some will be available at the event.

Patti Carothers just called to let me know that they are hosting a "TEXAS RIVER FESTIVAL at Hidalgo Falls" on October 12-13.

It is always a hoot, and full of good friends and good food, and wild paddling stories.

.

And occasionally paddling down the Brazos to 105 at midnight on a moonless night.
